Okitsura Fell in Love with an Okinawan Girl Chapter 1

Okitsura is a manga written and illustrated by Egumi Sora, fully titled Okitsura: Fell in Love with an Okinawan Girl, but I Just Wish I Knew What She’s Saying and known in Japanese as Okinawa de Suki ni Natta Ko ga Hōgen Sugite Tsurasugiru. The manga began serialization on Shinchosha’s Kurage Bunch website on January 10, 2020. The first volume was published on July 9, 2020, and as of January 8, 2025, nine tankōbon volumes have been released.

An anime television adaptation of Okitsura was announced on July 3, 2023. It is produced by Millepensee and written and directed by Shingo Tanabe, with Shin Itagaki serving as chief director. Tomohiro Yoshida handled character designs, while the music was composed by Tomohisa Ishikawa, Yoshimi Katayama, and Ayano Kinjō. Hodaka Fukumura served as the dialect coach, and the narration was provided by Tarusuke Shingaki.

The anime premiered on January 5, 2025, on Tokyo MX and other networks. The opening theme song, “Dai Dai Daisuki” (大大大好き, I Really, Really Love You), is performed by the Okinawan band HY, while each episode features a unique ending theme song covering Okinawan-related music, performed by Akari Kitō and Fairouz Ai, who voice the characters Hina and Kana, respectively. The series is streamed by Crunchyroll.
